'Willem van Malsen, devil artist' is an intimate portrait of the artist through the eyes of a group of friends, including Mark Brusse, Jeroen Henneman, Bernhard Holtrop, Remco Campert, Kees van Kooten, Jan Mulder and Mensje van Keulen.
Willem van Malsen started in the sixties as political sketcher for i.a. Vrij Nederland(Free Netherlands) and the French anarchic magazine l’Enragé. He painted, sculptured, illustrated, photographed, wrote, filmed, crafted and developed techniques such as the ‘déchirure’ (ruptures) Van Malsen takes a unique position in the Dutch history of art. His work can be viewed as one long experiment.
