This website is an addition to the public photo-exposition called Omkijken (looking back). This contains photos from the Second World War that will be placed on the spot where the photographer took the original photo, for the national memorial in May.

For the third year in a row, is displaying photos from the Second World War around the city for Memorial Day. This year, along the route for the memorial walk, pictures of children who passed during the Second World War were displayed. These children were innocent yet murdered. No one can put that into perspective. The images were increased to about 2 to 3 meters and were spread around different locations in Amsterdam on Memorial Day. After that the photos were placed on the Jonas Daniel Meijer-square at the Dockworker, till the end of May. Photographer Bernd Wouthuysen, together with designer Jeroen de Vries en René Mendel, owner of Interakt, have once again developed a memorable project where twelve photos of children, of whom their stories and their families were known, were selected from the massive collections of the NIOD(National Institute for War-Documentation) and Camp Westerbork.
