A website about Miep Gies, ‘The woman who saved Anne Frank’s diary’.
During the Second World War Miep Gies formed, together with Johannes Kleiman, Victor Kugler, Bep Voskuijl, Jan Gies and Johan Voskuijl, a team of helpers for eight Jewish refugees in the part behind the house at the Prinsengracht 263 in Amsterdam. In the front part of that exact house, was the office of Otto Frank, where Miep worked as a secretary.
“I am at the end of a long line of amazing Dutch people who have done exactly what I have, or even more – way more – during these dark, horrible years that are far behind us, but remain in the heart of those who have experienced this period like it was yesterday. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of what happened back then.”
