Bollywood Revolution

A film by Alexander Oey and Interakt about the Bollywood cinema through the eyes of the Indian Diaspora.

In this film we will see the portraits of four families in India, Surname, England and the Netherlands, in which three generations, grandparents, parents and children, feel closely related to the Bollywood film. They view the film weekly, they are influenced by it and they live with it. The emotions that the films bring up are deep and intensify their connection with the homeland India, no matter where in the world they live. It calls to a feeling which is hard to describe, because when they are in India themselves, reality differs from the films. Yet the sentiment of the Bollywood film is in their genes and nothing, not even the hard reality of India, will take that away from them. What is it that Bollywood films offers these families? What happens to them when they watch their favourite films? On the basis of their favourite films, they will explain what they see and how that makes them feel. They will tell us about the stories and the music that accompany their lives.
