100 years folk-universities
In the spring of 2013, Holland celebrated the 100th anniversary of folk-university work. To celebrate this, Interakt has worked together with the folk-university and Erik Willems to produce a film about the 100th anniversary.
For 100 years already, hundred-thousands of people between 18 and 80 have continued to educate and develop themselves: for their jobs, to stay 'up-to-date', to remain socially active, or simply because they enjoy learning. This documentary covers four main outlines: the motives of the folk-university work, the people (students, teachers, board-members, employers and volunteers), the means (the courses they offer, buildings, finance and the social function) and the part the universities have played over the years: the meaning for society as a whole and for individuals.
