The New Realists

The colourful seventies – The Hague is swinging, fantasy is in power!

Provo and the sexual revolution have by now taken place, the POP-culture and Pop-Art are in vogue. In art it is not as much about abstract or figurative anymore, but about photorealism, collages and pattern painting – inspired by comics. It is also not as much about individual art-ownership but about collective artistic activity. The New Realists by Jan Wouter van Reijen is a film with interviews with the still living artists and with conservator John Sillevis. The film has been viewed in 2004 in the Municipal Museum in The Hague.
