Raw and Pure
A series by Mildred Roethof
Filmmaker Mildred Roethof delves into the perception of youngsters whom identify with the world of street culture. In several Dutch cities, she will look at how ‘street-youngsters’ deal with universal themes such as love, money, respect, violence and ambition. We, as an audience, are flooded with stories that show threats for the boys to make wrong decisions, or where wrong decisions have been made already. In one episode for example, Erol, eighteen years old, has been in prison for three years for attempt at murder, he has only been out again for a month. Like no other, he can show how the boys on the street challenge each other and get guys pumped to use violence. The series has two seasons with each four episodes, the first season also includes teaching-material.
