One story out of a thousand – the book

Nine stories from holocaust-survivors from the Spielberg-project with commentary by their grandchildren. In cooperation with the Shoah Foundation.

The holocaust has not only scarred the survivors for life, also the generations after them carry this heavy history with them. In ‘One story out of a thousand’ the children tell their stories. Initiated in the nineties by American movie-director Steven Spielberg, survivors of the holocaust worldwide have recorded their stories on video. In the Netherlands thousands of witnesses from the Second World War took part in the Spielberg/project. By now, their grandchildren have grown up. How do they cope with the family history? What meanings do the experiences of their grandparents have in the choices the grandchildren make?
