Katibo Ye Ye

The film researches theme´s that connect a part of Africa with the Maroons and the culture of Suriname. Central in this is the transatlantic slave-circuit from Africa to South-America.

Frank Zichem paints the picture on how the history of the slave-industry, still has an effect on current times. Zichem succeeds to create an emotional ground, which makes every discussion about slavery look redundant, for he fully makes the audience feel the situation. Through a road-movie-alike structure, the Dutch-Surinam perspective is connected to that of the African perspective.
